Project Overview

The Wellington Solar Farm is situated approximately two kilometers northeast of the town of Wellington in New South Wales. The project will provide significant economic and environmental benefits for regional NSW further diversifying the energy portfolio.

First Solar received planning approval for the Wellington Solar Farm on 25 May 2018. With First Solar’s commitment to the communities in which we operate, local neighbours, community groups, environmental groups, and business organisations were engaged to ensure that Wellington Solar Farm remains a valued and respected member of the community.

First Solar completed grid connection studies and following due diligence, AEMO issued the 5.3.4A letter in accordance with the National Electricity Rules (NER) accepting the proposed Generator Performance Standards. First Solar will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of Wellington Solar Farm after the two-year defects liability period.

The Wellington Solar Farm supports Australia in its efforts toward providing 23.5 percent of its energy from renewable resources by 2020, while further establishing regional NSW as a leader in renewable energy.
